47/47 automated checks pass on Python 3.13.5 (standard library only); 14 cases incl. invalid input, duplicates and upstream failures. Not tested: a live import into TallyPrime (the XML was parsed back and checked, not imported); statement layouts of banks other than the HDFC and SBI style samples; XLSX statements in the shipped tests (CSV only).

Does it post into Tally for me?
No. It writes an XML file. You import it with Gateway of Tally > Import > Vouchers, after a backup.
Can it read PDF statements?
No. Download the statement as CSV or Excel from net banking. Most Indian banks offer it next to the PDF.
Is the free version limited?
It handles one statement per run with Payment and Receipt vouchers. There is no monthly cap and no account.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
The script makes no network calls. In Claude.ai the files are in your Claude chat; in Claude Code or plain Python they stay on your computer.
