Bank CSV to QuickBooks & Xero Pro / Docs

Bank CSV to QuickBooks & Xero Pro: troubleshooting

no header row with date, description and amount columns

Open the export and check it has a header row; delete any title lines above it, or export again as CSV.

Dates came out with day and month swapped

Use --date-order dmy or --date-order mdy, and --region for the output format.

Balance breaks in report.md

A row is missing or the export overlaps another one. Export the full date range again.

Xero says the account code or tax rate is not valid

Make the codes and tax rate names in rules.csv match your Xero chart of accounts and tax rates exactly.

Claude does not use the skill

Check it is switched on in Settings → Capabilities → Skills, then name it in your message.

The script says a column is missing

Rename your header to one of the names in README, or say the mapping in your message.

Skills with scripts need code execution enabled in Claude.ai settings.

FAQ

Does it import into QuickBooks or Xero for me? No. It writes the files; you upload them in QuickBooks Online (Upload from file) or Xero (Import a Statement).

Will QuickBooks get my categories? Not from the upload file itself. Enter the rules from bank-rules.csv as bank rules in QuickBooks, and they apply as lines come in. Xero precoded lines do carry the account code and tax rate.

I have no rules yet. Where do I start? Give it a month you already coded (description plus category or account code). It learns rules from it and suggests more in report.md.

Does it work for credit cards? Yes. Use --account-type creditcard, and --flip if your card export shows charges as positive.
