Inventory Reorder Planner: setup guide

A reorder plan for up to 100 SKUs: safety stock, reorder point, days of cover and what to order now, with slow and dead stock flagged.

Who it is for: Owners and operations staff at small shops and D2C brands who reorder stock from suppliers by feel or a spreadsheet.

What it does

It totals sales per SKU per day (days with no sales count as zero), then takes the average and standard deviation. Safety stock is 1.65 × deviation × √lead time (a 95% service level) and the reorder point is average × lead time + safety stock. When stock on hand plus on order is at or below the reorder point it orders enough for the lead time plus your cover days.

What you need

  • Claude.ai with code execution switched on (or Claude Code, or just Python 3.10+)
  • A sales export and a stock list

5-minute setup

  1. Claude.ai: open Settings → Capabilities → Skills, click Upload skill and pick claude-ai-upload/inventory-reorder-planner.zip.
  2. Claude Code: copy the folder skills/inventory-reorder-planner into ~/.claude/skills/.
  3. Start a new chat. Attach your file and say: "Use inventory-reorder-planner. Here are last month's sales and my stock list; what should I reorder?".
  4. Claude runs the script and gives you the files listed under Outputs. Check them before you act on them.

Try it with the sample

Run the sample (fictional shop, 30 days of sales):

python3 skills/inventory-reorder-planner/scripts/core.py samples/sales.csv samples/stock.csv --out out

You should see 1 SKU to order now (MUG-01: 62 units), 1 stock-out risk, 1 SKU with no sales and 1 SKU sold but not in the stock list.
