Question Paper Builder Pro / Docs

Question Paper Builder Pro: setup guide

Your question bank and a blueprint become up to six sets of a question paper and their answer keys in Word and Markdown, matching your chapter weightage and difficulty mix, with no repeats from earlier papers.

Who it is for: School teacher, tuition teacher or coaching institute in India making unit tests, periodic tests and pre-boards from questions they already have.

Format: Claude skill pack · Version: 1.0.1 · Tested on: Python 3.13.5 (standard library only)

What it does

Your bank is checked row by row (types, marks, MCQ answer letters; duplicates and bad rows are listed and skipped). For each blueprint row the tool picks questions of that type and marks, chosen to meet your chapter weightage and difficulty mix, then swaps questions to close any gap that remains. Internal choices get an alternative of the same type and marks, from the same chapter where possible. Each further set uses questions not yet used; if the bank runs short it reuses some and warns you. MCQ options can be shuffled per set, with the answer key following. Questions in used-questions.csv from earlier papers are kept out. The same title and seed always give the same paper.

What you need

  • Claude.ai with code execution switched on (or Claude Code, or just Python 3.10+)
  • Your own questions in a CSV or sheet (Claude can help convert them)
  • Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice to open and print the paper

5-minute setup

  1. Claude.ai: open Settings → Capabilities → Skills, click Upload skill and pick claude-ai-upload/question-paper-builder-pro.zip.
  2. Claude Code: copy the folder skills/question-paper-builder-pro into ~/.claude/skills/.
  3. Start a new chat. Attach your file and say: "Use question-paper-builder-pro. Make Sets A and B of an 80-mark Class X Maths pre-board in the CBSE 2025-26 pattern from my question bank, 30/50/20 easy/medium/hard, no questions from last month's test".
  4. Claude runs the script and gives you the files listed under Outputs. Check them before you act on them.

Try it with the sample

Run the sample (a fictional 39-question Class X Maths bank written for this product):

python3 skills/question-paper-builder-pro/scripts/core.py --bank samples/maths-x-question-bank.csv --blueprint samples/blueprints/periodic-test-40.csv --weightage samples/chapter-weightage.csv --mix 40/40/20 --sets 2 --shuffle --title "Periodic Test 1" --class X --subject Mathematics --time "1 hour 30 minutes" --max-marks 40 --out out

You should get Sets A and B (20 questions, 3 internal choices, 40 marks each). Set A has exactly 10 marks from each chapter. Set B shows warnings, because a 39-question bank is too small for two separate sets, so some questions are reused. In Claude, attach your bank and use the prompt above.

AI disclosure and limits

This product does not call an AI model at run time. It was built by Oarsman AI's AI agents and checked by the automated tests shipped with it.

Limits: - Arranges your questions; it does not write questions or check that answers are right. - Plain text only: images, diagrams and equation objects are not placed (a [Figure: file] note is printed instead). - Internal choices go to the last questions of a section. - Chapter weightage and difficulty mix are met as closely as the bank allows; gaps are shown. - Up to 6 sets per run.

Not tested by us: - opening the .docx in Microsoft Word itself (checked in LibreOffice) - printing - banks in scripts other than Latin and Devanagari
