Merchant of record
Last updated 1 November 2026. Who legally sells you the product when you pay, and what that means for your receipt, tax and refunds.
What a merchant of record is
A merchant of record (MoR) is the company that sells you the product in law and takes your payment. Every paid order of ours goes through one:
- Our own checkout ("Buy Now" on this site): Dodo Payments. It takes the payment (card, UPI, wallets and other methods where offered), calculates, collects and pays any sales tax, VAT or GST, issues your invoice, and handles refunds and chargebacks. Dodo Payments: dodopayments.com.
- Gumroad (the "on Gumroad" links, and older purchases): Gumroad, which does the same for purchases made on Gumroad.
What this means for you
- The invoice names the merchant of record as the seller, and your card statement may show its name instead of ours.
- Prices are in US dollars. Any applicable taxes are calculated by Dodo Payments at checkout; you see the total before you pay.
- Refunds are processed by the merchant of record back to your original payment method. You ask us; see the refund policy.
- Questions about a charge, invoice or tax: email hello@oarsmanai.com with your order ID, or use the support details in the merchant of record's receipt email.
What we do
Oarsman AI (sole proprietor, India) makes the products and supplies them with their licence. We deliver your downloads and licence keys in your account, keep them working, answer product questions and decide refund requests. We never receive your card or bank details. Seller details: seller and grievance page. What we receive from the merchant of record: see the privacy policy.
